The Scottish Society of Gastroenterology evolved from the Caledonian Society in 2001.

Its aim is to represent the professions with a primary interest in Gastroenterology including physicians, surgeons, nurses technicians and dieticians.

The society is dedicated to improving the care of patients with gastrointestinal problems through research and audit and by the promotion of high standards in clinical practice.
